Bio:
When we first met two years ago, living in a cold country far away from our homes, we realized we had something very significant in common. Both of us were from everywhere and from nowhere. And we wanted to reconnect with our roots. We wanted to reconnect with the traditions of our cultures which felt far and distant to us. And funnily enough, we had some of those roots in common.
We started making music because we wanted to learn about our Iberoamerican folkloric traditions. Today in our music, we explore legends, storytelling, and popular music styles. In our upcoming debut EP “Fragmentos del Olvido”, our original compositions cross over styles like Flamenco to Rancheras, Son Jarocho, and música Llanera. Un-boxable into any one genre, our goal is to create music that above all else is honest and intimate.
We share eclectic cultural backgrounds, Triana Segovia being Mexican/Spanish/Canadian and Luca Vaillancourt Canadian/Spanish/Luxembourgish. Our love for learning about traditional music is the foundation of our project, where we also bring in our own artistic backgrounds in jazz, improvisation, and contemporary music. As of right now, we live between Spain, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, hoping to share some of this music to bring you some sun to wherever you are.
